The Higher Technical Qualification in computing, network engineering pathway, is a level 5 qualification, which is equivalent to the first two years of an Honours degree. It has been designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for a successful career in computing.
Year 1 – Computing BTEC HND/HTQ – Network Engineering Pathway
This year will help you gain the underpinning, core skills that are needed to prepare you for further subject specialisation in year 2. You’ll study the network engineering pathway, as well as the specialist pathways such as data analytics, cyber security and the general pathway.

Year 2 – Computing BTEC HND/HTQ – Network Engineering Pathway
This year will help you gain the skills and knowledge necessary to understand the complexities of computer networks, vital to the modern digital economy, and without which, our current way of life would simply stop.
What modules will I study?
You’ll gain the skills and experience you need to progress to a career in the computing industry. It will lead you to a range of exciting jobs, such as a Business Analyst, Cyber Security Officer, Systems Analyst and Network Engineer.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment for both years will be through coursework for both practical and theoretical elements.
Successful completion of an HTQ in Computing will give you the knowledge, understanding and skills you need for relevant industry employment. Upon completion, you can seek a top-up degree at university and complete the final stages of a full degree in computing.
